Singapore Airlines Air Cargo Profile

Singapore Airlines Cargo, branded SIA Cargo, is the air freight arm of Singapore Airlines, the flag carrier founded in 1972. Cargo operations were run as a wholly owned subsidiary from 2001 before being reintegrated as a division of the parent airline in 2018. It carries the ICAO designator SQC and shares the SQ IATA code of its parent. The division manages both dedicated freighter services and the bellyhold capacity of Singapore Airlines and low-cost subsidiary Scoot, giving it reach across a widebody-heavy network centered on Southeast Asia.

The freighter fleet comprises around seven Boeing 747-400Fs and five Boeing 777Fs. The 747-400Fs, each with a payload near 110 tonnes, have anchored long-haul cargo routes for two decades and are slated for replacement by seven Airbus A350F freighters, with entry into service delayed to roughly 2027. The five 777Fs are flown by Singapore Airlines crews under a crew-and-maintenance arrangement for DHL Express, mainly on Asia to United States express lanes. Bellyhold space on the passenger A350-900, A380, 777-300ER and 787-10 fleets adds significant capacity.

SIA Cargo is based at Singapore Changi Airport (SIN), using the SATS air freight terminals and Changi's Airport Logistics Park as its handling base. Changi's position on Southeast Asian and kangaroo-route trade lanes makes it a natural transshipment hub linking Asia-Pacific with Europe, North America and Australia. The carrier emphasises specialised handling for perishables, pharmaceuticals and temperature-sensitive shipments, and holds IATA CEIV Pharma certification. Singapore Airlines has been a Star Alliance member since 2000, and is majority owned by Singapore state investment company Temasek Holdings.
