The carrier ranks third in the world behind MSC and Maersk, with a fleet of more than 650 ships and roughly 4.1 million TEU of capacity as of early 2026. It reaches around 420 ports in 160 countries and belongs to the Ocean Alliance, which it operates alongside COSCO and Evergreen. A string of acquisitions built out its network: ANL in Australia, Taiwan's intra-Asia specialist CNC, Singapore's APL through the 2016 purchase of NOL, and Finland's Containerships.
CMA CGM has pushed hard on dual-fuel tonnage, running one of the largest fleets of LNG-powered container ships and adding methanol-capable newbuilds. Beyond the boxes, it has grown a large logistics arm through CEVA Logistics and the 2024 integration of Bollore Logistics, plus media and port-terminal interests, making it one of the more diversified operators among the top carriers.
