About Maersk

A.P. Moller-Maersk traces back to 1904, when Arnold Peter Moller and his father Peter Maersk Moller founded a steamship company in Svendborg, Denmark. Over five generations the Maersk family built it into a shipping and logistics group headquartered in Copenhagen, operating in around 130 countries. Held the title of world's largest container line for years, Maersk slipped to second place behind Mediterranean Shipping Company in 2022, and today runs a fleet of roughly 700 owned and chartered vessels with total capacity above 4 million TEU.

The company has spent the past decade reshaping itself from a pure ocean carrier into an integrated logistics provider, adding air freight, warehousing, inland transport, and customs brokerage alongside its container business. Its 2017 acquisition of Hamburg Sud brought the Hamburg Sud and Alianca brands into the group, which also includes Sealand for regional trades and APM Terminals for port operations.

In February 2025 Maersk left the 2M partnership with MSC and launched Gemini Cooperation with Hapag-Lloyd, built around a hub-and-spoke model aimed at high schedule reliability. Maersk contributes about 60 percent of the pool. At the venture's one-year mark, Gemini reported schedule reliability near 90 percent, with Asia to North Europe and Transatlantic lanes running above 95 percent.

How do I check Maersk tracking availability on Panvaya?

Enter a Maersk container number in the tracker on this page. If the carrier integration is available, Panvaya returns the shipment milestones and route. If it is still being onboarded, you can send a carrier request and ask to be notified when support becomes available.

What is Maersk's SCAC code?

Maersk's SCAC code is MAEU. It identifies Maersk on bills of lading and shipping documents and helps Panvaya match a reference to the correct carrier integration.

Can I track Maersk containers by Bill of Lading or booking number?

Bill of Lading and booking tracking is available after sign-in when Panvaya supports that reference type for Maersk. Carrier capabilities vary, so Panvaya shows a clear availability message instead of returning incomplete tracking data.

Is Maersk container tracking free on Panvaya?

A guest can check one container without signing in when Maersk tracking is supported. A Panvaya account is required for saved journeys, Bill of Lading or booking tracking, exception alerts, and additional shipments.

Why isn't my Maersk container updating?

Carrier milestones can appear after the physical movement occurs. If Maersk is supported and the container is valid, a quiet timeline may mean the next event has not yet been published. If the carrier is not yet available, Panvaya will show an onboarding message and a carrier-request option.

How accurate is the ETA for Maersk shipments?

When Maersk tracking is supported and enough journey data is available, Panvaya updates the displayed arrival estimate as new milestones and vessel information arrive. Any ETA remains an estimate rather than a delivery guarantee.
