TransContainer

SCAC: TKRU

Russia's largest rail container operator, moving over 1 million TEU a year across Eurasia.

TransContainer is Russia's largest railway container operator, tracing its roots to a 2003 Russian Railways division that was spun out as a standalone joint-stock company in 2006. Rather than sailing ships, it moves boxes by rail, running door-to-door intermodal service that stitches together Russian rail, road drayage, and terminal handling. Its network reaches across the Trans-Siberian corridor and the Eurasian land bridges linking China, Central Asia, and Europe.

About TransContainer

TransContainer is Russia's largest railway container operator, tracing its roots to a 2003 Russian Railways division that was spun out as a standalone joint-stock company in 2006. Rather than sailing ships, it moves boxes by rail, running door-to-door intermodal service that stitches together Russian rail, road drayage, and terminal handling. Its network reaches across the Trans-Siberian corridor and the Eurasian land bridges linking China, Central Asia, and Europe.

The operating base is unusually heavy on rolling stock and ground infrastructure. TransContainer runs a fleet of roughly 40,000 well cars (fitton flatcars) plus a container park of around 220,000 TEU, and it owns or co-operates about 40 rail terminals at major Russian junctions and border crossings, backed by more than 90 sales offices. One of its most important assets sits at Zabaikalsk on the Russian-Chinese border, a rebuilt gateway terminal for China trade.

Ownership shifted decisively in 2019 and 2020, when Delo Group won control and consolidated 100% of the shares, folding TransContainer into Russia's largest transport and logistics holding. The company handles close to half of all container traffic on the Russian rail system and carries well over a million TEU annually, which makes it the backbone of containerized rail freight inside Russia and across its overland trade with Asia.

TransContainer container tracking FAQ

Where is TransContainer based and when was it founded?

TransContainer is headquartered in Moscow, Russia. It began as a Russian Railways division in 2003 and was established as a standalone joint-stock company in 2006.

Does TransContainer operate ocean vessels?

No. TransContainer is a rail-based intermodal operator, not a vessel-owning ocean carrier. It moves containers by rail on flatcars across Russia and the Eurasian land corridors, along with road drayage and terminal handling. The SCAC TKRU identifies TransContainer as this intermodal rail operator.

Who owns TransContainer?

TransContainer is part of Delo Group, one of Russia's largest transport and logistics holdings. Delo won control in 2019 and consolidated 100% of the company's shares by 2020.

How do I check TransContainer tracking availability on Panvaya?

Enter a TransContainer container number in the tracker on this page. If the carrier integration is available, Panvaya returns the shipment milestones and route. If it is still being onboarded, you can send a carrier request and ask to be notified when support becomes available.

What is TransContainer's SCAC code?

TransContainer's SCAC code is TKRU. It identifies TransContainer on bills of lading and shipping documents and helps Panvaya match a reference to the correct carrier integration.

Can I track TransContainer containers by Bill of Lading or booking number?

Bill of Lading and booking tracking is available after sign-in when Panvaya supports that reference type for TransContainer. Carrier capabilities vary, so Panvaya shows a clear availability message instead of returning incomplete tracking data.

Is TransContainer container tracking free on Panvaya?

A guest can check one container without signing in when TransContainer tracking is supported. A Panvaya account is required for saved journeys, Bill of Lading or booking tracking, exception alerts, and additional shipments.

Why isn't my TransContainer container updating?

Carrier milestones can appear after the physical movement occurs. If TransContainer is supported and the container is valid, a quiet timeline may mean the next event has not yet been published. If the carrier is not yet available, Panvaya will show an onboarding message and a carrier-request option.

How accurate is the ETA for TransContainer shipments?

When TransContainer tracking is supported and enough journey data is available, Panvaya updates the displayed arrival estimate as new milestones and vessel information arrive. Any ETA remains an estimate rather than a delivery guarantee.
