About Containerships
Containerships is a Finnish shortsea line founded in 1966 and based in Helsinki, built around intra-European container traffic rather than the deep-sea trades. Its network reaches the Baltic, Russia, Northern Europe, the United Kingdom, North Africa and Turkey, and it pairs feeder sailings with door-to-door logistics across sea, road, rail and barge.
The company became an early mover in gas-fuelled shipping. It ordered a series of four 1,400 TEU dual-fuel newbuildings, taking delivery of the first, Containerships Nord, in December 2018, with sisters following in 2019. Those ships run on liquefied natural gas, and Containerships extended the idea onto land with a fleet of LNG-powered trucks, aiming to offer gas fuelling across the whole transport chain.
CMA CGM announced its acquisition of Containerships in 2018 and completed it after European Commission clearance that October. The deal, which followed the French group's earlier purchases of regional operators such as MacAndrews, folded roughly 690 Containerships staff into CMA CGM's intra-European operations and strengthened its short-sea coverage of Northern Europe and the Baltic.
Containerships container tracking FAQ
Who owns Containerships?
Containerships is part of the CMA CGM Group. CMA CGM acquired the Finnish company in 2018, completing the deal in October that year after European Commission approval, and integrated it into its intra-European operations.
What is Containerships known for?
It is a Finnish intra-European shortsea line founded in 1966 and an early adopter of LNG. It introduced four 1,400 TEU LNG dual-fuel container vessels, starting with Containerships Nord in December 2018, and also ran LNG-powered trucks.
Which regions does Containerships serve?
Its network centres on intra-European trade, covering the Baltic, Northern Europe, Russia, North Africa and Turkey, combining feeder sailings with road, rail and barge logistics.
How do I track a Containerships shipment?
Enter your Containerships container number, Bill of Lading (BOL), or booking number into Panvaya's tracker. You'll get the live vessel route, milestone events, and a predictive ETA in real time, with no Containerships account or login needed for a quick lookup.
What is Containerships's SCAC code?
Containerships's SCAC code is CSHP. It identifies Containerships on bills of lading and shipping documents. On Panvaya you don't need to enter it. Just paste your container, BOL, or booking number and we detect the carrier automatically.
Can I track Containerships containers by Bill of Lading or booking number?
Yes. Panvaya supports Containerships tracking by container number, Bill of Lading (BOL), and booking reference (BK). Any of the three returns the same real-time route, port calls, and ETA.
Is Containerships container tracking free on Panvaya?
Yes, you can track Containerships shipments for free, with no login for a quick lookup. Sign in to unlock the full journey: detailed milestones, predictive ETAs, transhipment legs, and exception alerts.
Why isn't my Containerships container updating?
Containerships tracking reflects what the carrier and vessel feeds have reported, so there is often a lag between a real-world move and the update. Panvaya refreshes on a regular cycle; a shipment that looks stuck usually just means the next milestone (such as vessel departure or discharge) hasn't been filed yet.
How accurate is the ETA for Containerships shipments?
Panvaya combines Containerships's schedule with live vessel position and historical performance to predict arrival, and refines the ETA as the journey progresses and conditions change. It is a continuously updated estimate, not a guarantee.
