MacAndrews
SCAC: MCAW
Historic short-sea line, founded 1770, now part of CMA CGM's intra-European Containerships network
MacAndrews is one of the oldest names in European shipping. The story begins in 1770, when William MacAndrews settled in Liverpool and began importing fresh fruit from Spain in fast schooners. His descendants formalized the business as Robert MacAndrews & Co, founded in London in 1853 as shipbrokers and shipowners, and by 1900 the firm ran more than two dozen ships trading between Britain and the Iberian Peninsula.

About MacAndrews
MacAndrews is one of the oldest names in European shipping. The story begins in 1770, when William MacAndrews settled in Liverpool and began importing fresh fruit from Spain in fast schooners. His descendants formalized the business as Robert MacAndrews & Co, founded in London in 1853 as shipbrokers and shipowners, and by 1900 the firm ran more than two dozen ships trading between Britain and the Iberian Peninsula.
For most of its modern life MacAndrews stayed close to that founding trade. It became a short-sea container and multimodal specialist, linking North and Central Europe with Spain, Portugal, the Canary Islands, and Morocco using a combination of sea, road, and rail. The company joined the CMA CGM Group in 2002 and absorbed fellow Iberian short-sea operator OPDR in 2018, building an integrated intra-European door-to-door network.
The MacAndrews brand itself was retired on 1 April 2019, when CMA CGM folded it, along with its Finnish acquisition Containerships, into a single Containerships brand covering the group's intra-European short-sea business. Shippers may still encounter the SCAC MCAW on older bookings and bills of lading, but the underlying services now operate under Containerships within CMA CGM.
MacAndrews container tracking FAQ
Is MacAndrews still an active shipping brand?
Not as a standalone brand. On 1 April 2019 CMA CGM merged MacAndrews and its Finnish subsidiary Containerships into a single Containerships brand for intra-European short-sea shipping. The SCAC MCAW may still appear on legacy bookings and bills of lading.
Who owns MacAndrews?
MacAndrews joined the CMA CGM Group, the French container shipping giant, in 2002. It later absorbed OPDR in 2018 before being consolidated under the Containerships brand within CMA CGM.
What routes did MacAndrews serve?
MacAndrews was a short-sea and multimodal specialist connecting North and Central Europe with the Iberian Peninsula (Spain and Portugal), the Canary Islands, and Morocco, combining sea, road, and rail transport.
How do I track a MacAndrews shipment?
Enter your MacAndrews container number, Bill of Lading (BOL), or booking number into Panvaya's tracker. You'll get the live vessel route, milestone events, and a predictive ETA in real time, with no MacAndrews account or login needed for a quick lookup.
What is MacAndrews's SCAC code?
MacAndrews's SCAC code is MCAW. It identifies MacAndrews on bills of lading and shipping documents. On Panvaya you don't need to enter it. Just paste your container, BOL, or booking number and we detect the carrier automatically.
Can I track MacAndrews containers by Bill of Lading or booking number?
Yes. Panvaya supports MacAndrews tracking by container number, Bill of Lading (BOL), and booking reference (BK). Any of the three returns the same real-time route, port calls, and ETA.
Is MacAndrews container tracking free on Panvaya?
Yes, you can track MacAndrews shipments for free, with no login for a quick lookup. Sign in to unlock the full journey: detailed milestones, predictive ETAs, transhipment legs, and exception alerts.
Why isn't my MacAndrews container updating?
MacAndrews tracking reflects what the carrier and vessel feeds have reported, so there is often a lag between a real-world move and the update. Panvaya refreshes on a regular cycle; a shipment that looks stuck usually just means the next milestone (such as vessel departure or discharge) hasn't been filed yet.
How accurate is the ETA for MacAndrews shipments?
Panvaya combines MacAndrews's schedule with live vessel position and historical performance to predict arrival, and refines the ETA as the journey progresses and conditions change. It is a continuously updated estimate, not a guarantee.
