SCAC: ARKU

Turkey's largest container fleet operator, a Mediterranean and Black Sea liner and feeder specialist

Arkas Line is the container shipping arm of Arkas Holding, an Izmir-based Turkish group whose roots run back to 1902, when Gabriel Arcas opened an import agency in the city. The maritime business took its modern shape after 1964, when Lucien Arkas founded his shipping agency, and the container operation grew out of EMES Feedering, set up in 1996 as Turkey's first container line. That entity was rebranded Arkas Container Transport, trading as Arkas Line, around 2009 to 2010.

About Arkas

Arkas Line is the container shipping arm of Arkas Holding, an Izmir-based Turkish group whose roots run back to 1902, when Gabriel Arcas opened an import agency in the city. The maritime business took its modern shape after 1964, when Lucien Arkas founded his shipping agency, and the container operation grew out of EMES Feedering, set up in 1996 as Turkey's first container line. That entity was rebranded Arkas Container Transport, trading as Arkas Line, around 2009 to 2010.

The company owns Turkey's largest container fleet, running roughly 49 container ships as of 2024 with individual capacities from about 1,000 to nearly 2,900 TEU, the small and mid-size tonnage suited to regional and feeder work. Six eco-design vessels of 4,300 TEU are on order under a reported 360 million dollar program, and these will become the biggest ships Arkas has operated. Alphaliner has placed the carrier around 35th on its Top 100 ranking.

Arkas concentrates on the Mediterranean, the Black Sea, North and West Africa, Northern Europe and the Red Sea, using its own vessels alongside slot and partnership arrangements with lines such as COSCO, Evergreen, Yang Ming, Hapag-Lloyd and Grimaldi. The wider group also runs port and terminal assets, including Marport in Istanbul, plus logistics, warehousing and inland transport.

Arkas container tracking FAQ

Where is Arkas Line based?

Arkas Line is part of Arkas Holding, which is headquartered in Izmir, Turkey. The container transport company is registered in Istanbul, and the group operates offices and agencies across Europe, the Mediterranean and Africa.

Is Arkas part of a shipping alliance?

No. Arkas Line operates as an independent carrier rather than a member of the major alliances such as Ocean Alliance or Gemini. It does maintain slot and partnership agreements with lines including COSCO, Evergreen, Yang Ming, Hapag-Lloyd and Grimaldi.

What does the SCAC code ARKU identify?

ARKU is the Standard Carrier Alpha Code assigned to Arkas Container Transport (Arkas Line). It appears on bills of lading and booking references and identifies the carrier for tracking and documentation.

How do I track a Arkas shipment?

Enter your Arkas container number, Bill of Lading (BOL), or booking number into Panvaya's tracker. You'll get the live vessel route, milestone events, and a predictive ETA in real time, with no Arkas account or login needed for a quick lookup.

What is Arkas's SCAC code?

Arkas's SCAC code is ARKU. It identifies Arkas on bills of lading and shipping documents. On Panvaya you don't need to enter it. Just paste your container, BOL, or booking number and we detect the carrier automatically.

Can I track Arkas containers by Bill of Lading or booking number?

Yes. Panvaya supports Arkas tracking by container number, Bill of Lading (BOL), and booking reference (BK). Any of the three returns the same real-time route, port calls, and ETA.

Is Arkas container tracking free on Panvaya?

Yes, you can track Arkas shipments for free, with no login for a quick lookup. Sign in to unlock the full journey: detailed milestones, predictive ETAs, transhipment legs, and exception alerts.

Why isn't my Arkas container updating?

Arkas tracking reflects what the carrier and vessel feeds have reported, so there is often a lag between a real-world move and the update. Panvaya refreshes on a regular cycle; a shipment that looks stuck usually just means the next milestone (such as vessel departure or discharge) hasn't been filed yet.

How accurate is the ETA for Arkas shipments?

Panvaya combines Arkas's schedule with live vessel position and historical performance to predict arrival, and refines the ETA as the journey progresses and conditions change. It is a continuously updated estimate, not a guarantee.
