Global Freight Services

SCAC: GFSH

Hong Kong-based NVOCC and freight forwarder in the Li & Fung group, focused on Asia-to-West retail supply chains.

Global Freight Services (GFS) is the freight management arm of Hong Kong's Li & Fung group, whose sourcing and trading roots in Asia go back to 1906. Rather than owning ships, GFS operates as a non-vessel operating common carrier and forwarder, issuing its own bills of lading and buying space from the container lines that carry the boxes. It grew out of Li & Fung's logistics build-out, including the 2010 purchase of Integrated Distribution Services and the 2014 acquisition of China Container Lines, which deepened its ocean consolidation capability out of Asia.

About Global Freight Services

Global Freight Services (GFS) is the freight management arm of Hong Kong's Li & Fung group, whose sourcing and trading roots in Asia go back to 1906. Rather than owning ships, GFS operates as a non-vessel operating common carrier and forwarder, issuing its own bills of lading and buying space from the container lines that carry the boxes. It grew out of Li & Fung's logistics build-out, including the 2010 purchase of Integrated Distribution Services and the 2014 acquisition of China Container Lines, which deepened its ocean consolidation capability out of Asia.

The company is built around consumer-goods retail. Its customers are apparel, footwear, home and accessories, FMCG, beauty, electronics and healthcare brands, along with the department stores, specialty chains, supermarkets and off-price retailers that stock them. GFS handles FCL and LCL ocean freight, buyer's consolidation, deconsolidation, customs brokerage, vendor and purchase-order management, and control-tower visibility, mostly on the classic Asia-to-Europe and Asia-to-US lanes plus intra-Asia moves.

Ownership is a point people get wrong. When A.P. Moller-Maersk bought LF Logistics in 2022, it took Li & Fung's in-country contract logistics and warehousing. The Global Freight Services forwarding business stayed with Li & Fung, which has continued to run and grow it. In carrier data, GFS shipments carry the SCAC code GFSH.

Global Freight Services container tracking FAQ

Who owns Global Freight Services (GFS)?

GFS is part of the Li & Fung group, based in Hong Kong. When Maersk acquired LF Logistics in 2022, it took the in-country contract logistics and warehousing business. The Global Freight Services forwarding operation remained with Li & Fung.

Is Global Freight Services an ocean carrier with its own ships?

No. GFS is a non-vessel operating common carrier (NVOCC) and freight forwarder. It issues its own bills of lading and books space on the container lines that actually operate the vessels, so it does not own or run ships and is not part of a vessel-sharing alliance.

What does the SCAC code GFSH identify?

GFSH is the Standard Carrier Alpha Code tied to Global Freight Services on ocean shipments and bills of lading. You can use it, along with a container number or Bill of Lading number, to track GFS-booked cargo.

How do I track a Global Freight Services shipment?

Enter your Global Freight Services container number, Bill of Lading (BOL), or booking number into Panvaya's tracker. You'll get the live vessel route, milestone events, and a predictive ETA in real time, with no Global Freight Services account or login needed for a quick lookup.

What is Global Freight Services's SCAC code?

Global Freight Services's SCAC code is GFSH. It identifies Global Freight Services on bills of lading and shipping documents. On Panvaya you don't need to enter it. Just paste your container, BOL, or booking number and we detect the carrier automatically.

Can I track Global Freight Services containers by Bill of Lading or booking number?

Yes. Panvaya supports Global Freight Services tracking by container number, Bill of Lading (BOL), and booking reference (BK). Any of the three returns the same real-time route, port calls, and ETA.

Is Global Freight Services container tracking free on Panvaya?

Yes, you can track Global Freight Services shipments for free, with no login for a quick lookup. Sign in to unlock the full journey: detailed milestones, predictive ETAs, transhipment legs, and exception alerts.

Why isn't my Global Freight Services container updating?

Global Freight Services tracking reflects what the carrier and vessel feeds have reported, so there is often a lag between a real-world move and the update. Panvaya refreshes on a regular cycle; a shipment that looks stuck usually just means the next milestone (such as vessel departure or discharge) hasn't been filed yet.

How accurate is the ETA for Global Freight Services shipments?

Panvaya combines Global Freight Services's schedule with live vessel position and historical performance to predict arrival, and refines the ETA as the journey progresses and conditions change. It is a continuously updated estimate, not a guarantee.
