Australia National Line (ANL)
SCAC: ANNU
Melbourne-based CMA CGM brand specializing in Australia, New Zealand and Pacific Island trades
ANL began life in 1956 as a state enterprise. The Australian Coastal Shipping Commission was formed on 1 October that year and inherited around forty ships from the earlier Australian Shipping Board, running coastal and, later, international liner services under government ownership. That public chapter closed in December 1998, when the Howard government sold ANL's liner shipping business to France's CMA CGM. The two vessels that changed hands, Australian Endeavour and Australian Enterprise, were a modest start for what became CMA CGM's Oceania platform.

About Australia National Line (ANL)
ANL began life in 1956 as a state enterprise. The Australian Coastal Shipping Commission was formed on 1 October that year and inherited around forty ships from the earlier Australian Shipping Board, running coastal and, later, international liner services under government ownership. That public chapter closed in December 1998, when the Howard government sold ANL's liner shipping business to France's CMA CGM. The two vessels that changed hands, Australian Endeavour and Australian Enterprise, were a modest start for what became CMA CGM's Oceania platform.
Under CMA CGM ownership the operation grew quickly, from roughly 70,000 TEU in 1998 to more than 1.5 million TEU by 2015. Today ANL runs regular services linking Australia and New Zealand with Asia, the Indian Subcontinent, the Middle East and North America, and it carries reefer and project cargo alongside standard dry boxes.
Where ANL stands apart is the Pacific Islands. In 2017 CMA CGM used ANL to acquire Sofrana Unilines, a specialist in South Pacific trades, folding it into a combined Sofrana ANL operation. Services such as ANL WESTPAC connect New Zealand and Australia with Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, the Solomon Islands and New Caledonia, ports that larger deep-sea lines rarely touch directly.

Why isn't my Australia National Line (ANL) container updating?
Australia National Line (ANL) tracking reflects what the carrier and vessel feeds have reported, so there is often a lag between a real-world move and the update. How accurate is the ETA for Australia National Line (ANL) shipments?
Panvaya combines Australia National Line (ANL)'s schedule with live vessel position and historical performance to predict arrival, and refines the ETA as the journey progresses and conditions change. It is a continuously updated estimate, not a guarantee.
